The friendship temple at the upper end of the Herrenwiese was a simple round temple built by the two princes Ludwig and Emil for their mother Grand Duchess Luise in 1824. The dome, crowned with a golden tenon, rested on eight wooden pillars. The architrave showed the inscription: "In filial love - 18 February 1824 Ludwig and Emil". However, the temple had to be demolished, like some other buildings in the prince's camp, due to dilapidation. It was replaced by the ivy temple built in 1871. However, during the spring storms of 1990, falling trees destroyed the construction, meaning that this pavilion also had to be removed.
