According to a legend, the Sea of Rocks was created when two giants fought. One lived on the Hohnstein and the other on the Felsberg. The two of them threw the huge boulders at each other, shouting and shouting. But the giant from Hohnstein had more stones and so the giant from Felsberg was buried under the stones. To this day you can sometimes hear him roaring.

The Rock Sea is a block stream from an ancient magma mountain, which weathered in the last millennia. Here you can climb great, either just for fun or as training for mountain tours. The rocks are nicely rounded and pile up over a distance of about 1 km up the rocky mountain. Halfway up a large wooden bridge swings across the rocky sea, where the stones are most impressively visible.
