Today's Freiheitshalle, with its blue roof that glows at night, is the third event hall to have been built on this site. The first Festhalle was inaugurated in 1935 and was named Adolf Hitler Hall. After the Second World War, it was renamed the Freiheitshalle to commemorate the liberation from National Socialism. The second Freiheitshalle stood here from 1974 to 2009. Millions of people attended sporting events, trade fairs, rock concerts (even AC/DC played here), and television shows, including Thomas Gottschalk's TV premiere of "Wetten, dass..?" in 1987. From May 2009 to September 2012, the hall was completely renovated and partially rebuilt. This is how the third Freiheitshalle was created. It has space for 6,100 visitors in the main hall (without seating, 3,400 in theatre seating), and 800 seats in the Festsaal, the concert hall of the Hof Symphony Orchestra. The Freiheitshalle is the largest event hall in northeast Bavaria.

Opposite has been the town hall since 1936, known as the "Freedom Hall" since 1945. In the large house and in the ballroom, visitors from near and far gather for balls, sports competitions, music performances or television shows. The third building is now here, after the first was demolished in 1972 and the second in 2010.
