The view of Quedlinburg from the Schlossberg is fantastic.

The Schloßberg was already the core of settlement in the early Middle Ages. At the beginning of the 10th century, King Heinrich I had a palace built on a naturally grown sandstone rock, which rises up from the surrounding area as a steep cliff. He was also buried there in 936. The women's convent of the Ottonian family of rulers, which was set up in the same place immediately after his death, took over the care for the spiritual salvation of the dead king (Memoria) and was at the same time a place of education and care for the daughters of the high nobility.
