Stari Slankamen dates back to 4th century AD. Romans built fortress on the top of the hill overlooking delta of Danube and Tisa rivers.
Remains of the fortress, present at this time, are from 1072. State of remains is poor but considering age and lack of care, still remarkable.
Follow the signs from the Salt spring down in the village.
Mineral springs are still active to this time and used in close by sanatorium for treatment of neuropsychiatric patients.
