She herself married a blacksmith who later died as a soldier in the North American War of Independence. After his death, she entered the service of the Wild pharmacist family in Kassel as a "conductor". The Brothers Grimm heard a large part of the fairy tales they collected from Marie Müller and the two daughters of the Wild family.
