Another popular landmark of Fulda unfolds its baroque beauty on the large flight of stairs in front of the orangery: the Floravase. The 6.80 m tall sculpture was carved out of a stone in 1728. It shows Flora, the goddess of horticulture. The lily in her hand is reminiscent of the person who commissioned the Floravase, Prince Abbot Adolph von Dalberg.

One of the most important garden sculptures in Europe is located in the middle of the Fulda Castle Garden, on the landing of the large orangery staircase.

The flower goddess Flora stands on a vase decorated with flower tendrils and surrounded by little angels. The sculpture itself is made from just one stone, which comes from the Steinau sandstone quarry behind Marbach. The base on which it stands was composed of several sandstones hewn in another quarry. In her raised hand she holds a golden lily, the symbol of the Fulda prince abbot Adolf von Dalberg. This work of art was created by the Bamberg sculptor Daniel Friedrich Humbach in 1728. The Prince Abbot Adolf von Dalberg designed some of them himself and commissioned them to express his connection to nature.

The local historian Ernst Kramer described it in his article published in the Fulda Monthly Mirror as "the symbol of a proud age of absolute rulers who celebrated their triumph in the intoxication of fine arts, accompanied by magnificent festivals, and in the process created values whose grandiose content we can appreciate still envy today."
