The Weiherwald is part of the southern Hardtwald between Weiherfeld and Bulach. It is designated as a landscape protection area according to signs, and it is criss-crossed by hiking and cycling trails to Bulach, Weiherfeld and Ettlingen. It contains residual lakes from the former quarry ponds, from which the Petergraben is also fed. There are many fallen trees around these lakes that are not removed. Untouched old trees also grow around and in the unspoilt lakes. The bird world is rich in species and invites you to observe. In addition to ducks, gray herons, great egrets, cormorants and kingfishers, they have made their nests in the lakes. The Weiherwald is a large contiguous piece of forest that is often used as a local recreation area. Cyclists will find well-marked cycle paths here, pedestrians and hikers will get their money's worth and for dog lovers it is an ideal area for your four-legged friends.

At times, the paths that are not led on dams are flooded and impassable.
