Every year at the Trinity Festival in Nachtsheim, parishioners go to the Trinity Chapel on the Blicker Straße.
The chapel was rebuilt in 1972 because the previous Trinity Chapel had to be demolished to relocate a road. The new chapel still contains the mercy seat from the old chapel. The year of construction and the reason for the erection of the front chapel are no longer known.
Holy houses, crosses, wayside shrines and ladles are particularly widespread in the Eifel region. This is due to the fact that the Christian faith was lived with conviction in the Eifel region in the past. In the Mayener Eifel area there are more than 1550 inconspicuous sacred cultural monuments that characterize the region. For visitors, the small buildings are often characteristic of the Eifel region, as they fit so well into the romantic landscape and are real eye-catchers. The origin of these buildings and why people built them at the time is of different nature. With their construction, people have often kept a vow that they had previously made, for example in the event of illness, war or fire. If they survived the times of need relatively unscathed, they gave God a sign of thanks.
Many shrines and crosses, on the other hand, simply express people's religious beliefs, invoke patron saints, or serve as a sign of piety. Some of them were places of intercession prayer. Even today, the holy houses are popular starting points. In some places these monuments have been cared for and decorated for generations; threatened with decay elsewhere.
The Dreifaltigkeitskapelle in Nachtsheim used to be looked after by the girls of the last school year, later by the Paulus and Anna Weber family. Today, the descendants Heinz and Marianne Dedenbach lovingly take care of this religious jewel.
