A 7 km long central lane connects the Ravels Regional Forest from North to South. The lane is named after the inventor Marneffe of this pilot project.

Today many use the Marneffedreef to quickly go straight from north to south.

History: The wasteland was bought by the Belgian state in the early 20th century (1903 - 1904). These soils consisted mainly of heathland. From 1906 the grounds were planted with Scots pines. The forest was a kind of experimental forest that looked at how heather could be converted into coniferous forests.

This pilot project to understand the quality of trees was important for the mining industry.
