    Grožnjan is a small Istrian town of great cultural importance, not only in Croatian but also internationally. Every year, at the beginning of May, the narrow streets of this village undergo a metamorphosis, giving rise to a fervor of events, including academies and art workshops.

    Grožnjan is located on a hill overlooking the Mirna Valley. It was an important pre-Roman settlement, and later a Roman fortress. After ups and downs, Grožnjan came under the rule of the Republic of Venice from 1358 until 1797. In these first years the town was fortified with mighty walls and the Palazzo Ducale was built. The Porta Maggiore, very well preserved, has a drawbridge and the coat of arms of Captain Pietro Dolfin.

      The small artist village with its winding streets, the different studios and the three or four restaurants is just fun. Compared to other cities and villages in Istria, there is not one standard souvenir shop after the next. Great ambience
