In the Schönangeralm show dairy, you can see how the cheese is made, taste the finished product and, of course, buy provisions for your hike. On the community pasture, 25 farmers process over 2,000 liters of milk into cheese and butter every day in summer. This alm is the pride of 24 farms. About 260 animals spend their "summer holiday" from June to September on 680 hectares of pastureland, spread over 3 pastures (upper farms). 2500 liters of milk are processed daily. In the cheese factory you can see how Johann makes delicious specialties such as mountain cheese, Emmentaler, Camembert, Tilsiter or herb cheese with great finesse. The entire production is sold immediately. Johann Schönauer also won two golds and one silver at the last “Cheese Olympics”!
In addition to cheese, 1400 kilograms of fresh butter are produced per season.
Interesting to pay a visit.

The cheese shop at the Schönangeralm is open daily from May to the end of October.
