The Ruins Rötteln is one of the most impressive castles in southern Baden. Today, many original walls, watchtowers and even residential buildings still remain. If you wander through the vaults, it's like a journey back in time to the Middle Ages.

Opening hours:
Mid-March to mid-November
daily from 10am to 6pm

Mid-November to mid-March
on weekends and holidays
from 11am to 4pm

Ticket prices:
Adults 2,50 Euro
Children (6 to 14 years) 1 Euro
Children under 6 years are free of charge

Large and well-preserved castle ruins. Costs a little admission. The proceeds are used by the association, which works to preserve the ruins, for conservation measures.

Very beautiful castle ruins with large parking directly below the castle. Nice, that you also in the evening outside the opening hours walk around the castle.

Great and very large castle complex. The entrance fee for the Oberburg is definitely worth it. In the outer ward there is currently a fairly priced beer garden with self-service.

Both towers of the upper castle can be climbed. There is a great view towards Lake Constance (to the Säntis) or towards Basel (Swiss Jura).
Current admission (July 2024): adults €3.50, children and other groups of people different.

For me the castle is somehow something very special about Lörrach and I really enjoy being there. I don't really know why that is the case. Somehow it has a very special flair and I really like it😍.

You can start from Lörrach Haagen-Messe. From this station it's not far away up to Burg Roetteln. It's a great old Burg with many hiking trails around and the Bannwald is not far away too.

Beautiful castle ruins with a great view and a steep climb coming from Lörrach. There is also a small museum and a souvenir vending machine! :-)

Fantastic, large castle ruins high above Lörrach. Entry costs 3.50 euros for adults and it's definitely worth it! There's also a small exhibition and you can explore the whole, well-preserved castle ruin. You can even climb up to the highest tower of the upper castle and from there you have a fantastic view over Lörrach and as far as Basel.
