One has the feeling of being in the jungle. Just behind Kandern you will find a completely different world. With the bizarre rock formations and several small caves, it is about 200 m long. The gorge was formed by an earlier watercourse about 160 million years ago.

The Wolfschlucht is really impressive, and you don't have to be a special climbing artist, so it's also suitable for families with children. However, I was there in December after it had rained almost continuously for about 2 weeks. That was not a particularly good idea, because the floor is mostly loam and then becomes greasy and slippery - even with good hiking shoes.

The Wolfsschlucht is located in the Kandertal between the main town of Kandern and the neighboring town of Hammerstein in the Kandern district of Wollbach at an altitude of 365 meters. It is affected by the river and the Kandertalbahn near the Kanderner sports field.
Since 2007, the 12th stage of the Black Forest West Trail (western route) has led through the Wolfsschlucht.

The Wolfsschlucht is ideal for a short walk or if you want to barbecue together with the family. You dive into an adventurous world of rocks, narrow passages, big trees and dark caves. On Sundays you can hear the "Kanderle" and depending on the situation also see. From Hammerstein or Kandern it is only a short walk on single trails to run, great fun, especially if the weather is right.
