The so-called "Old Darre", the former bakery and brewery of the monastery date back to the 14th century. The monastery wall is almost completely preserved.

When I was there, the monastery was unfortunately closed due to Corona, so I could only look at it from the outside. You could visit the monastery garden, but in April not that much grew there either. I took some photos and will definitely be back at some point (if the conditions are better). But it was definitely a nice bike tour (I cycled from Dannenberg via Clenze to Diesdorf and via Salzwedel back to Dannenberg).

The “Alte Darre” in Diesdorf was built in the 14th century as a bakery and brewery for the Augustinian monastery. The oldest beams in the building date back to the winter of 1306-1307. After the monastery was converted into a women's convent in 1551, the building continued to serve as an outbuilding. In 1860, a seed kiln was set up to produce pine seeds, which was in operation until 1900. Today, the Alte Darre houses an exhibition on local history and is used for cultural events.
