Founded in the 11th to 12th centuries, the church of Santa Maria Maggiore (also known as the collegiate church) has a facade dating from 1644, which was created as part of the building's expansion. As you enter the church, on the left side of the nave you can admire the Baglioni Chapel, frescoed in 1501 by Bernardino Betto, known as Pintoricchio, one of the most important artists of the Umbrian-Italian Renaissance. As you admire the frescoes, take the time necessary to discover the many extraordinary details depicted by the artist with great imagination. In the vault you can see the Sybils on the throne, on the left wall the Annunciation - note a framed, signed self-portrait of the artist - and on the back wall the Adoration of the Shepherds and the Arrival of the Magi with a depiction of the Umbrian landscape; On the right you can see the dispute in the temple.

Rather plain on the outside, but simply beautiful on the inside.
The Pinturicchio paintings in the church are incredible. Visiting the church is free, but for three euros you can illuminate the three frescoes. They are so beautifully painted and the colors are so fresh. The church is worth a visit, also to find a little peace.
