This figure was created at the end of the 1960s on the initiative of the then mayor Madel and was created by an artist from Ueckermünde, recalls the pensioner Kurt Schwanz. The now 76 year old has lived in Kamminke since 1946. Worked as a baker and in agriculture. "From 1972 to 1984, when I was disabled, I was mayor myself," reveals Kurt. The stone sculpture was not always in its current position. “It used to stand right on the water and had to move away from this point in the course of the further expansion of the port,” says Kamminker. The original stone sculpture is said to have broken off the arm of a fallen branch of a poplar during a storm, whereupon the sculpture disappeared a little later and was replaced by a new one.
