    The Bornstedt village church is one of the most beautiful churches in Potsdam. The nave built in the Italian style in 1854-56 is supplemented by a detached tower and arcades (similar to the Church of Peace in Sanssouci Park). King Friedrich Wilhelm IV himself provided the ideas for the redesign of an earlier building from 1806.

In 1805 the "Second Bornstedter Church" was built.

            The churchyard of the village of Bornstedt, which was incorporated into Potsdam in 1935, has been popular with the bourgeoisie and the nobility as their final resting place since the 18th century. The cemetery as such was laid out in 1599. Over the centuries it has been steadily expanded. Until the establishment of a separate pastor's office in 1860, the clergy of the Potsdam city parish church, from 1721 Saint Nikolai and from 1848 that of the Friedenskirche, looked after the village and the cemetery. Not only the residents of Bornstedt are buried on it, but also numerous personalities. Theodor Fontane already reported: What dies in Sanssouci - is also buried in Bornstedt.
