Picturesque city center with pretty little shops and cafes. You will find the tourist office directly on the market square. There is also the first stamp for the Malerweg. If you complete all the tours, you will receive a certificate and a corresponding pin.

The originally preserved town center with the town hall rich in Gothic portals, with the Sonnenstein Fortress, the Protestant town church of St. Mary and the Canaletto House tells the story of the over 775 year old town. By the way, several historical city views of Pirna can be admired in the Dresden Picture Gallery - painted by the famous Italian veduta painter Bernardo Bellotto, known as Canaletto.

The market square in Pirna and the surrounding houses are very well preserved and tell of a time when the inhabitants earned a lot of money with the sandstone from the surrounding quarries. The Pirna weekly market takes place on the market square in front of the town hall on Wednesdays and Saturdays. In addition to meat and sausage products, flowers, bakery bread, fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese and fish, there are also various regional specialties. The market is a popular meeting place, especially at lunchtime, because customers receive not only sweet but also hearty and warm meals.

On special occasions, such as the Canaletto market in December, the weekly market moves to the open space in front of the Peace Park (Breite Straße).

Opening hours: every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m
