A nice description comes to mind for this path: "Stumbling blocks and forgotten places". I created a small picture gallery and wanted to make a reference to "Lost places", because there are a lot of them along the way. It's actually a pity that the hospitality of all things "fell by the wayside", so to speak.

The starting point of the first stage of the Malerweg is the Liebethaler Grund. Although there were other variants of painter's paths that somehow formerly haunted the Saxon Switzerland, and they all actually started in the area of Dresden, but the newly created Malerweg starts in the Liebethaler reason. The new Malerweg is marked with a few signposts and a few tablets and is therefore relatively easy to find. From the old factory building of the re-commissioned Pirna-Liebethal waterworks, it goes into the Liebethaler Grund.

The Liebethaler Grund is located near the small town of Liebethal, which belongs to the large district town of Pirna. A wildly romantic hiking trail leads through the valley along the course of the Wesenitz river. In addition, the well-known hiking route "Malerweg" begins in the Liebethaler Grund, which runs from here through the entire Saxon Switzerland. Since May 21, 1933, the largest Richard Wagner monument in the world has been located near the former hydroelectric power station. The bronze statue, over four meters high, depicts Wagner as the guardian of the Grail and was designed by the Dresden painter and sculptor Richard Guhr.

In the wet spring (May 2023) the creek was well filled with water and the lush spring foliage made the bottom glow an almost unreal green. A treat for the senses. Then the ruins of the former hydroelectric power station and the music from Lohengrin. Almost like Indiana Jones😄
