Around the Aachener Weiher and in the park there are many opportunities to go for a walk, to stroll and in summer to simply sit on the meadow and relax. In the nearby café of the Museum of East Asian Art you can get a good refreshment. We had a very tasty pumpkin soup and an even better chili con carne. The museum is certainly also worth a visit, but we didn't have time for that today. :-)

The Aachener Weiher was created in the early 1920s, at the time when Konrad Adenauer was Lord Mayor of Cologne.
The Hiroshima-Nagasaki-Park, which has only been officially called that since 2004, extends south of the pond to Bachemer Straße. Members of the Cologne Peace Forum had campaigned for this name to commemorate the atomic bombs that were dropped in Japan in 1945.
The park with rolling hills was created after the Second World War: rubble and debris from the destroyed city were piled up there. The people of Cologne first called this green area "Mont Klamott" or "Aachener Berg".
