The Herkulesberg (“Mont Klamott”) - Here the rubble of Cologne from the Second World War was piled up to form a mountain.

"... The best way to approach the Herkulesberg, as it is properly called, is from the Stadtgarten. This gives you the opportunity to get to know one of the most hidden and unusual bridges in Cologne. The airy steel-concrete construction was created as part of the development of the Mediapark and crosses the tracks of the former Gereon freight station behind it. Behind it, after a few steps, you reach the top of Monte Klamotte.
Although only 25 meters high (absolute height: 72 meters), it is impressive with its dimensions. Its back stretches over 130,000 square meters of surface area almost to Innere Kanalstraße. As the only rubble hill, it can also boast a popular nickname. "Klamotte" is not a French word, unlike "Mont" (= mountain), but the aim is clear: Klamottenberg/ mountain made of all kinds of things. And as if this were not enough of an honor, the Bläck Fööss also immortalized it in their most famous song »Mer losse d’r Dom en Kölle«, where it says: »D’r Monte Klamotte, dä heißt ob eimol Zuckerhot, da köm dat Panorama schwer en Brass.« ..."
