You don't really think it possible, but in 2005 border marker 184 was stolen. How the thieves took the 372 kilogram pole, which stood in the middle of the heathland of Plateaux Hageven, is a mystery. Employees at a factory in Maarheeze found the pole in front of the company door a month later, wrapped in green plastic. The pole was replaced in November, as required by law.

However, within a year the pole was stolen again. This time he was not found again. The perpetrators of both thefts were never caught. It is also unknown why this pole was popular with the thieves' guild, but it may have to do with the fact that bullet holes from the Second World War were still visible in the pole.

Relocation of the pole then took 8 years. In 2014, a new post was finally installed, also without the bullet holes. This time firmly anchored against possible thieves.

The border post commission inventories the state of maintenance of the border posts and makes decisions on the execution of maintenance and possible replacement of border posts.
