The Domein De Bever in the Warmbeek valley was already an attraction for young and old in the 1960s. But an aggressive intruder threatened to destroy the idyll. Sounds like an alien invasion, but it wasn't that bad - but it was still dangerous.

The Brazilian milfoil (Myriophyllum aquaticum), an invasive exotic species from South America, slowly overran more than half of the water surface, threatening the remaining flora and fauna. In order to give native animals and plants more chances again, the pond and heath landscapes were renatured in 2018 and 2020 to get rid of this exotic species.

On an adventurous adventure trail you can get to know the beautiful nature in this area in a playful way.

There is a lookout tower at the beautiful pond. On top of the tower you have a beautiful view of the pond and the surrounding walking area De Bever. This is a starting point for several walks.

Domain "The Beaver" usually refers to the area of and around the lake and surrounding domain (catering, watchtower, etc.) with a beaver path and water features that are protected. However, the Beverbeek area is larger and, as a nature reserve, also includes forests and agricultural land that is owned by KU Leuven. The large and old manor farm and the castle were also once.
