This 1-mile narrow extension of the 4 mile-long east-west Golden Gate Park is the best connection to downtown along the cross-town route from the Pacific Ocean to the SF Bay. Shaded with tall hundred+ years old Monterey Cypress, Pine, and Eucalyptus tree giants, basketball courts, and always some new homeless or happy campers in the tradition of the 1960s summer of love hippies that ended up in the park.

Is a good pathway if you catch the right time of the day otherwise it's filled with pedestrians, the pedestrians have their own south side of the panhandle to walk on but there's just as many on the north side. As they are walking arm to arm two, three abreast and baby strollers is challenging at times especially on work commutes not so much in the morning but be vigilant in the afternoon & evenings.
