The Abbey of Grimbergen is a Norbertine abbey in the Brabantine circarie. It is located in Grimbergen, approximately 10 kilometres north of Brussels. It is the oldest inhabited Norbertine abbey in Belgium.
The emblem of the abbey is the phoenix, derived from Greek mythology. Just as this bird rises from its ashes, the abbey was rebuilt after repeated destruction. This is also expressed in the motto ardet nec consumitur.
