The Langwarder Groden between Fedderwardersiel and Langwarden is the best place for bird watching in Butjadingen. A 4 km long circular hiking trail and a 2 km long nature discovery trail offer a special kind of nature experience. The constant change between low and high tide can be particularly well viewed from several observation stands, footbridges and a bridge that leads to the foreshore. You can find out more about nature and the landscape on numerous information boards. Interactive models invite you to discover this interesting habitat.

The “Nature Experience Langwarder Groden” measure created an attractive opportunity to experience nature that is unique in Germany and on the North Sea: via a circular hiking trail that leads directly into the area of the measure, you can see the creation of a new salt marsh, the associated flora and fauna and the permanent Experience the change of ebb and flow directly.

A boardwalk leads directly into 70 hectares of salt marsh development area, providing fascinating insights into the flora and fauna of the Wadden Sea. An approx. 35 m long wooden bridge leads over the extended Sieltief. The Wadden Sea UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered a hub for bird migration and the most important wetland for birds in Europe. From a bird watching hut on the edge of the salt marsh development zone, you have the best visibility and a high probability of observing countless wading and migratory birds. Numerous information boards and installed binoculars help with the clear identification of avocets, shelducks and the like.
