The sea rescue station Fedderwardersiel is a base of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked Persons (DGzRS) in Lower Saxony. From the Fedderwardersiel fishing port, the voluntary sea rescuers secure the area on the west side of the Outer Weser with the Wadden Sea off the Budjadingen peninsula. The shipping in the area consists of shrimp fishermen and excursion boats that go to the seal banks. In addition, sailors coming from the Jade or from the Weser fairway head for the port, which dries up at low tide, and can get stuck in the tidal channels of the Wadden Sea (source: Wikipedia).

ABOUT THE STATION
Fedderwardersiel
The Fedderwardersiel Volunteer Station, with its 9.5-meter rescue boat, the Emil Zimmermann, covers the area on the west side of the Outer Weser River. Several crab fishing boats are moored in the town's harbor, and excursions to the seal colonies are offered.

The historic rescue shed on the west side of the fishing harbor is still used by the sea rescuers. It also houses the former motor lifeboat, the Wilhelmine Wiese. It was stationed in Fedderwardersiel after the Second World War and remained in service there until the 1970s. In the mid-1990s, it was lovingly restored, returned to the small sluice harbor, and has since been presented in the rescue shed along with numerous testimonies from the sea rescuers' history (source: seenotretter.de/crews-stationen/fedderwardersiel).

The training ship CARLO SCHNEIDER of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked Persons (DGzRS) is a conventional steel displacement ship for decentralized training and further education in all areas of the DGzRS. Seamanship, safety procedures, walking alongside, towing, maneuvering and technical and terrestrial navigation are trained on it (source: wilhelmshaven-sailing-cup.de/schiffe-maritimes/schiffe/carlo-schneider).
