There's really nothing to add to Oliver's explanation! 👌👍 In any case, the church is a real eye-catcher, which is why I took a picture of the tower and its clock. A great photo opportunity, an impressive structure.

The parish church of Traismauer, dedicated to Saint Rupert of Salzburg, is a historical landmark right in the center of Traismauer. Its origins date back to the 9th century, with later alterations and expansions that today are primarily characterized by Baroque elements. Remains of a Roman military camp and a medieval crypt were discovered beneath the church, making the site particularly interesting from an archaeological perspective. A bike ride to the church square is well worth it to admire the historical architecture and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the town center.

The baroque parish church of Traismauer has a long history. At the beginning of the 9th century, Traismauer was a capital in the eastern county of Charlemagne. In 833, Prince Privina, who had fled Moravia, was baptized in what was then St. Martin's Church in Traisma. The “Pribina Fountain” in front of the parish church, built in 1999, commemorates this historic event. After the first wooden church building burned down, a new parish church in the late Romanesque style was built on the remains around 1293. The original Martinskirche was rebuilt several times, most recently in the Baroque style. After years of legal dispute between the Traismauer donated to the Archdiocese of Salzburg and the Augustinian Canons' Monastery of St. Georgen at the mouth of the Traisen in the 12th and 13th centuries. In the 19th century, Salzburg renounced the Martin's patronage and chose St. Rupert from Salzburg as the church's saint.

The church was simply built over the Roman command building. Count Cadaloc, who was pierced with an arrow by the Avars in 802, is said to be rotting in the basement.
