The Witch Tower can be visited independently and free of charge: The Witch Tower guards open the Witch Tower to guests on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays depending on the season. As a special highlight, the Witch Tower guards also unlock the courtyard gates to the courtyard of Idstein's residential palace. Outside of these hours, the Witch Tower key can be picked up from the Tourist Information Center at König-Adolf-Platz (opposite the town hall) for a deposit. The climb is rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the old town and the surrounding Taunus hills. And after returning the key, it's worth taking a look at the small but excellent town museum, also located in the Tourist Information Center and also free of charge. You can visit and climb the witch's tower individually, which is what I did.
You can get the tower key at the tourist information office, opposite the town hall.
The tour is free and you have 30 minutes before you have to hand in the key again.
Opening hours: Tourist Information
Tuesday and Wednesday - 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m
Thursday and Friday - 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m
