    After years of closure due to the relocation of the Wilhelmsburger Reichsstrasse and the construction of the Kornweiden Bridge, the direct passage from Veddel to Harburg through the Wilhelmsburger Inselpark to the Harburg Elbrücken is finally free again.

      Here you can see wonderfully how Hamburg is not becoming a bicycle city. Instead of building the newly created cycle path from Harburg to Hamburg straight into the railway underpass, preference was given to occasional local car traffic (as always) and the numerous cyclists were allowed to take an S-curve. :-(
      Edit: At least drivers on the access road now have a STOP sign.

        Drive through here and the extension of the LOOP ends shortly before the Elbe bridges: Old Harburg Bridge (currently not passable - as of 07.2021) and the Bridge of June 17th and zack you are in Harburg.

                Thanks to the relocation of the old Reichsstrasse, the island park is growing together. The park is still a construction site in some corners. But in others you can see what it can become. A park for the whole of southern Hamburg. Even if the BUGA was not an economic success for the Hanseatic city, it is a benefit for the people who live here. That should count more than profitability - the island park contributes to the quality of life. Which is priceless!
