Anyone travelling from the end of Schwarzenhasel towards Erkshausen will notice this stately half-timbered house with a stone ground floor on the left - the moated castle. Originally there was a historical connection with Rodenberg Castle, which lies above the town of Rotenburg, whose castle guards were given so-called castle seats as fiefs. One of these castle seats was the moated castle in Schwarzenhasel. Even today, three-quarters of the castle is surrounded by a moat. Based on the Gothic entrance, the building dates to the 14th or 15th century. It is a successor building or an addition to the former small fortification. The two half-timbered floors probably date from the 17th century. The noble owners were the von Holzheim family (around 1371), then the von Trott family (from 1525) and briefly the von Biedenfeld family (from 1885).
