The Schwanenmühle is said to have been built in 1554 [Rosenthal], but it was in any case in the middle of the 16th century at the latest. According to tradition, the demolition material from the "Motte", the old swan castle, was used for the construction.

The Schwanenmühle was located on the named after her street in Langenfeld-Wiescheid in the Krüdersheide, where today stands the same inn. In the immediate vicinity runs the border to Solingen district Ohligs; so close that can be read on older postcards "Ohligs, Schwanenmühle".
