Vernet-les-Bains is a very pretty mountain village with nice streets and good restaurants. Trip to Villefranche-de-Conflent recommended. From here the hotel lobby is the brilliant tip for the Orgues of Ille-sur-Tet

The Vernet-les-Bains washhouse is one of the few washhouses supplied with hot thermal water. A trompe l'oeil and a scenography on these interior walls will make you relive the daily life of the women who came to the washhouse. (Please note there are opening hours, but you can still admire it between the bars of the gate)
