The Amstelbach is a left-bank stream in the Wurm-Rur-Maas river system with its source in the Aachen urban region of North Rhine-Westphalia and its mouth in the Heinsberg district in the Cologne administrative region.

Haus Heyden is the ruin of a former moated castle northwest of Aachen. According to historians, it was probably the most impressive structure of its kind in the Aachen area in the Middle Ages.

The two outer castles were used by a farm until 2001 and their layout has not changed since the middle of the 17th century. Today, only a remnant of the once wide moats can be found in the north of the complex. The inner castle has been left to decay since the end of the Thirty Years' War and is therefore almost original as a ruin.

The entire complex was extensively restored by its owner between 2001 and 2003, taking into account the requirements of monument preservation, and is now used as a private residential complex.
