Anyone interested in living in the first half of the 20th century should definitely visit the Haesler Museum. Free entry, donation requested. Until 2019 the museum was only open once a month, now every week from Wednesday to Sunday. otto haesler (1880-1962) was one of the great architects of the 20th century with an international reputation. He worked as a freelance architect in Celle from 1906-1933.

Its settlements and buildings in the Bauhaus style characterize the cityscape. His settlements in Celle, Karlsruhe, Kassel and Rathenow (1926-1931) were among the most progressive and groundbreaking buildings of the Weimar Republic.

One of these outstanding works by Haesler includes u. a. also the elementary school in Celle from 1926-1928. The school is still a showpiece due to its distinctive cubic exterior and its unique, extremely functional interior.

This museum is unique with an originally preserved and furnished Bauhaus workers' apartment, a workers' apartment furnished in the 1950s, refugee accommodation from 1945, an original wash and bath house built in 1931 and an extensive photo exhibition about life in a workers' Bauhaus settlement in Germany.
