The cycle path begins in Krummennaab at the Fichtelnaab-Radweg junction in the direction of Windischeschenbach and runs from there on the route of the former narrow-gauge railway via Reuth bei Erbendorf and Thumsenreuth am Hainbach to the Waldschänke Zainhammer, then on to Friedenfels. Then the route becomes slightly hilly. The bike path leads through Voitenthan, Muckenthal and the idyllically situated oat mill on the edge of the Wiesau pond landscape through the fishing village of Kornthan to Wiesau. From here the route climbs a little to the beginning of Fuchsmühl, then leads up to the pilgrimage church and down again to the Plattenmühle. There follows a steep section of 1.5 km up to the "Sattlerin" pass at Herzogöd at 730 m. The terrain falls from the top to Waldershof, past the Stieglmühle. With a view of the castle, the trail leaves Waldershof and continues via Rothenfurth and Zottenwies to the Pilgramsreuther Sattel at 620 m. Passing Pullenreuth and Lochau, the Steinwald Cycle Path meets the Fichtelnaab Cycle Path shortly after Riglasreuth, which takes you back to the starting point at Krummennaab. In Pullenreuth, a detour to the glass grinding experience with the GEOPARK Bavaria-Bohemia information center and the Steinwald nature park is worthwhile.
