On the night of August 27-28, 1943, a Halifax bomber of the Royal Air Force crashed in the wooded area near Alttrier in the municipality of Bech (L). Four of the seven crew members were able to save themselves by parachute, three survived the crash or the previous bombardment.
The bomber was first damaged by enemy fire on the German-Luxembourg border. Two crew members have already died here. After another fire by a German Messerschmit Bf 110 G-4 night fighter, the bomber was definitely brought down.

There is a plaque commemorating the crash of a bomber from WWII in the middle of the forest. There is also a bench, a table with explanations and a small figure of Mary in a niche in the rock.
I meant the hiker, from whom I copied the round, reported parts of the wreck that could still be visited. But I hadn't seen this one? Maybe something more hidden in the forest or I remembered wrong?
