On the hiking trail through the G'steinigt nature reserve is the silver spring, which was found in 1919. It is reminiscent of mining in the Arzberg iron ore district. At the silver spring, a 100 meter long tunnel was driven into the rock in 1863, which was to serve for the drainage of the mine water from the Morgenstern shaft. Remains of a wheel room, a landing wall for ore barges and a natural weir go back to this time. The tunnel mouth hole has been open to visitors since 2009.

On the initiative of the Fichtelgebirgsverein Arzberg and the working group "Altes Bergwerk"

became a remnant of the more than 700-year Arzberg mining history in 2008, the 1722

Transport and drainage tunnels that were created and filled more than 50 years ago, the so-called tunnel mouth at the Silberquelle in G`steinigt, were uncovered. In 1944 an air raid shelter was to be set up here. The tunnel could be freely walked about 50 to 100 meters, then it was closed by a grid. Unfortunately, the tunnel has been closed for some time for safety reasons. There is probably an acute danger of a “mine water explosion”. The water that flows out of the Sankt Georg tunnel is collected as a silver source in front of the tunnel.

The Sankt-Georg-Stollen at the Silberquelle is on the hiking trail through the G´steinigt. The tunnel was created in 1722 and served as a transport and drainage tunnel for the Arzberg mines, especially the Morgenstern shaft.

The Sankt-Georg-Stollen passes under the neighboring western Arzberg iron ore district, which consisted of several mines and tunnels. Alexander-von-Humboldt already descended the Arzberg mines and inspected them. In 1792 he wrote a report for the ministry, in which he reported on the condition and working conditions in the mines and shafts around Arzberg.

The Arzberg hiking trail (Alexander von Humboldt Weg) leads through the mining area, which has existed for over 700 years. The once-filled St. Georg gallery was uncovered in June 2007. The tunnel can be walked freely for about 50 to 100 meters, then it is closed by a grille. The tunnel water that flows from the Sankt-Georg tunnel is conceived as a source of silver in front of the tunnel.
