The green oasis on the island

Colorful variety
To the west of Chelles-Allee you can admire lush flower borders, the star fountain and exotic plants such as ginkgo, palm trees, bananas and magnolias in the summer months. This part of the city garden reflects the design of the 1920s. It is limited towards the city by the "Anlagen-Bergele" of the Ludwigschanze. The first large green area on the island was created here in 1847, based on the model of the English landscape garden, thanks to a generous donation from the Lindau merchant Friedrich Gruber. The mighty plane trees are from that time.
