Mount Nebo (Hebrew: הַר נְבוֹ Har Nəvō, Arabic: جبل نيبو, Jabal Nībū) in the Abǎrim Mountains is located in Jordan. It is an offshoot of the plateau that slopes down to the Dead Sea. Mount Nebo, with a height of 808 meters, offers a view of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Israel.
Mount Nebo (Siyagha) is a holy place for Christians, Jews and Muslims because it is believed that the Prophet Moses saw the Promised Land here as described in the Old Testament and the Torah. The summit of Siyagha is 700 m above the Jordan Valley, overlooking the northeastern part of the Dead Sea. Today there is a memorial, a Franciscan monastery and an archaeological site on the mountain. Visitors from all over the world come because of the historical and religious significance of the place, but also because of the ancient architectural evidence and the Byzantine mosaics that are preserved and displayed here.
