He's lying face down and stomach on the floor. Ludwig Weber holds his revolver in his hand. This is how colleagues found him on September 25, 1917, it was a Tuesday, next to the ice pond near Fischbach. The 36-year-old police officer, a gendarmerie deputy sergeant, has two visible bullet holes on his side. The officials alert the court commissioner that until they arrive, the corpse of the man in uniform may not be touched, let alone moved.

On September 25, 1917, a body was discovered next to the ice pond near Fischbach - it was the deputy police sergeant Ludwig Weber, who was found with a revolver in his hand and shot with a Browning.
The murder met with a high level of sympathy among the people and so a memorial stone was erected on which flowers were laid until the 1970s. The stone was destroyed in 2004 - so the current one was inaugurated in 2005.
