The only publicly accessible Haubarg
Haubargs – this building style originates from Holland – once numbered in the hundreds in our region, mostly on Eiderstedt, and the most famous is the "Red Haubarg," which, contrary to its name, is a white, thatched-roof farmhouse with integrated agricultural spaces.
Livestock, farmhands, the farm owner, and his family were all united under one roof in a Haubarg. While there are still a few dozen such buildings, the "Red Haubarg" near Witzwort is the only one open to the public.
