The rose window in the neo-Gothic façade, designed by the artist Ladislas Kijno, represents the Resurrection. The bronze portal ** is the last work of the sculptor Georges Jeanclos, who died in 1997, with pure enamelled bodies that stagger and seek support. In the choir, above the altar, stands the statue of Notre-Dame de la Treille. A few chapels are strung together around the nave. A table of pink granite from the Vosges and an altarpiece in enamelled chiselled goldsmithery in the chapel of St. Jozer, three stained glass windows of the three most revered patron saints of Lille (Arnout, Eloi and Nicolas) in the chapel of St. Anne, bas-reliefs on the history of Flanders and Lille in the chapel of Charles the Good, and rural mosaics in honour of the sciences of truth in the chapel of John the Baptist. The Sainte-Chapelle is lit by eleven stained-glass windows dedicated to the life of the Virgin Mary. In the left bay there is a model of the cathedral from 1912.

The seated figure of Saint Peter inside Lille Cathedral, which - as so often in France - is dedicated to the Mother of God under the title "NOTRE-DAME" (German: "Our Lady"), is strongly reminiscent of the obvious model of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome or the Vatican. The two keys in his hand, an often-shown attribute of the apostle Peter, allude to the Bible passage in Matthew: "You are Peter, the rock, ... to you I will give the keys of the kingdom of heaven..." (Mt 16, 19), while the extended foot invites you to touch the statue in awe. The Vatican original, which was certainly deliberately used as a model for the design here in Lille, was created by Arnolfo di Cambio and is probably a work from the very early 14th century.

The Lille Cathedral (Basilique-cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille de Lille) is the episcopal church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lille in Lille, Hauts-de-France region. It was begun in 1854 in the neo-Gothic style as a monumental shrine to the image of Our Lady of Treille and completed in 1999 with the modern west facade. It has been a minor basilica since 1904 and the cathedral of the newly established diocese of Lille since 1913. With this it was elevated to a metropolitan seat in 2008.

The cathedral is the episcopal church of the Archdiocese of Lille. The foundation stone was laid in 1854. Construction began in the neo-Gothic style (the model was the cathedral buildings of the 13th century). The completion of the construction work was the completion of the modern west facade in 1999.
