The village fountain in Herxheim (Landau) is located on a square opposite the town hall and in front of the Villa Wieser on Oberen Hauptstrasse. It was designed by the married couple Gernot and Barbara Rumpf from Lachen-Speyerdorf in collaboration with Reinhold Bachter from Kaiserslautern. Its inauguration took place on May 12, 1989.

Designed by Prof. Gernot Rumpf and his wife Barbara, the village fountain with its bronze sculptures dominates the center of Herxheim and, together with Villa Wieser, has become a center of public life.
The symbolism represents the many facets of the community. The tobacco plants, together with the Herxheim tobacco bunnies - "Duwakshase", creatures from the Rumpf family - are a reminder of the long tradition of tobacco in Herxheim. The racehorse with sulky shows Herxheim's connection to equestrian sports and the motorcycle reminds the viewer that the Herxheim sand track races are well-known sporting events. The bread basket is a reminder of an old vow: in times of the plague, the surrounding villages laid bread on the district borders to save the Herxheim residents from starvation. To this day, the blessing of the bread and then the distribution of the bread take place every year in August in remembrance of this.
