In 1988, the 20th anniversary of the AK 68 and the 850th anniversary of the city of Wasserburg coincided. To commemorate both anniversaries, the Wasserburger Skulpturenweg was created in cooperation with the city of Wasserburg am Inn on the initiative of Ute Lechner and Hans Thurner.
With currently 30 sculptures by well-known artists, which are set up along the Innschleife, the Skulpturenweg is the largest open air gallery of its kind in Bavaria and one of the largest in Germany.
