With the construction of the grain box, Duke Wilhelm IV expanded the castle complex considerably between 1526 and 1529. The granary served mainly as a grain reserve for the capital Munich. Today a retirement home is housed in the building.

Unfortunately, as of 04/04/2021, there is not much to see of the grain bin due to extensive renovation work.
