The Schönwieshütte is located in the midst of a magnificent mountain scenery at an altitude of 2,266 m in the valley of the Rotmoostal in Obergurgl, in the rear of the Tyrolean Ötztal.
There has been a hut on this site for a long time, but the current building was built from scratch just a few years ago. And you can see that from afar!
Above all, it is the modern, linear architecture of the new Schönwieshütte that immediately catches the eye and attracts visitors from near and far.
In addition, the huge panoramic windows provide an impressive 360-degree view of the mighty Ötztal Alps. Among others, the Hangerer (3,020 m), the Hochfirst (3,405 m) and the Kirchenkogel (3,113 m) shine directly in front of you.
The Schönwieshütte in Obergurgl can be reached relatively quickly from the middle station of the Hohe Mut Bahn in summer and is therefore a popular destination for day tourists. Of course, alpinists also get their money's worth in the area.
In winter, the area around the Schönwieshütte is a true paradise for ski tourers. Those who prefer it more comfortable can also be chauffeured with the Ski-doo from the mountain station of the Steinmannbahn to the hut. (The Schönwieshütte is a little off the groomed slopes).
Ferdinand Fiegl has leased the Schönwieshütte from the local ski club as the official owner and has been managing it together with his young, motivated team since autumn 2016.
As the exterior of the house suggests, so is the interior: modernity meets tradition and both are skillfully combined.
Genuine Tyrolean hospitality combined with an extensive, fresh range of dishes with homemade delicacies and local dishes - no wishes remain unfulfilled.
The hits include classics such as the Almpfanne, spaetzln, soups, salads, dumplings in a wide variety of designs, but also bruschetta and homemade cakes. With the ingredients, special attention is paid to the origin and regionality.
