There was a chapel in Kleinpösna before 1295. This was rebuilt after the Thirty Years War.
Today's church
After 1840 there were plans to build a new church. This was planned and built by Albert Geutebrück in the neo-Gothic style as a hall church. The church was consecrated on November 28, 1852. 40 years later, in 1892, it was named Marienkirche. [1] The interior of the church was renovated in 1892 according to plans by Paul Lange.
The construction

The church is a quarry stone building with a polygonal closed choir and pointed arched windows with tracery. The church tower on the west side is equipped with an octagonal bell storey and stair towers. A sacristy belongs to the building.
The interior is furnished in a neo-Gothic style, has a three-sided gallery and a wooden ceiling.
