The listed, extremely photogenic mountain church Beucha was built in the 13th century and expanded in the 19th century. Due to their location on the 147 meter high Beuchaer Kirchberg, you can see them from afar. The mountain itself is made of granite porphyry, which was mined here for a long time. The small lake Kirchbruch, which lies at the foot of the church, is one of the national geotopes in the Porphyrland Geopark.

Information panels have been set up on the western bank of the so-called Kirchbruch (church quarry) in Beucha. They provide a nice overview of the quarry's history and the use of the stones from here. For example, 26,500 stones were used for the Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Battle of the Nations Monument) in Leipzig.

The landmark of the 9,000-person community of Brandis – the Bergkirche (Church of the Mountain) in Beucha. About 20 km east of the city of Leipzig, this rather small church holds a special place. The church was built in the 13th century on a rocky hill, the highest in the area. Since the 15th century, this hill has been gradually demolished. The rock of the Kirchberg is said to have been used for the construction of the Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Battle of the Nations Monument) in 1813. Today, there is a fabulous view of the small Bergkirche (Church of the Mountain), its steep cliffs, and a heart-shaped lake in front of it, from the south.

A small trail has formed around the quarry lake, offering exciting perspectives of the Bergkirche (Church of the Mountain). The Bergkirche (Church of the Mountain) is open to visitors every Sunday between Easter and Reformation Day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
